Overview

PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP®) is one of the fastest growing Agile certifications. The PMI-ACP®Boot Camp is designed to equip today’s practitioners with agile approaches, good collaboration skills, and methods to effectively manage complexity while thriving on rapid response times. In addition to preparing you for the PMI-ACP® certification examination, this course will provide you with an understanding of Agile practices, how to use Agile tools and techniques, and knowledge on Scrum, Lean, Kanban, Extreme Programming, and Test-driven Development.

Prerequisites

To be eligible for the PMI-ACP® certification, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • General Project experience: Having worked 2000 hours on project teams within the last five (5) years, or holding the Project Management Professional (PMP)® or Program Management Professional (PgMP)® certification.
  • Agile Project Experience: Having 1500 hours of working on Agile project teams; these hours should have been earned within the last three (3) years in addition to the aforementioned 2000 hours
  • Training in Agile Practices: Having earned 21 contact hours in Agile practices

Examination Format

  • 3 hours duration
  • 120 multiple choice questions
  • 100 scorable questions and 20 pretest questions

Exam & Certification FAQs

Do I need to be a PMI member to become certified?

No, you do not need to be a PMI member to apply for one of the organization’s certifications.

 

Can I attempt the exam in my native language?

Yes, you can if your native language is English, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, or Spanish.

 

Where is the examination given?

You can choose to attempt the certification exam at an approved local Pearson VUE testing center or at home/office while monitored by an online proctor.

 

What does the PMI-ACP® certification exam cover?

The PMI-ACP® certification examination will cover the following domains, which are shown with an estimate percentage of the questions you will receive:

    • Domain I – Agile Principles and Mindset (16%)
    • Domain II – Value-driven Delivery (20%)
    • Domain III – Stakeholder Engagement (17%)
    • Domain IV – Team Performance (16%)
    • Domain V – Adaptive Planning (12%)

What are pretest questions?

Pretest questions are 20 questions which do not count in your score. These are added to certification exams to help PMI monitor the performance of a question before including it permanently in its databank of test questions.

 

Will I need to fulfill requirements to maintain my certification?

Yes, you do. Holders of the PMI-ACP credential will need to have 30 PDUs per three-year cycle. These 30 PDUs should comprise of minimum 18 Education PDUs and maximum 12 Giving Back PDUs. Education PDUs are further broken down into minimum 4 Technical PDUs, 4 Leadership PDUs, 4 Strategic PDUs, and 6 PDUs from any area of the PMI Talent Triangle.

 

If I fail my PMI-ACP exam, can I retake the exam?

Yes, you can. In addition to your first attempt, you can re-take the exam two more times within your one-year eligibility period.
