Overview

PRINCE2 Agile® provides structure, governance and controls to organizations which wish to use or are currently working with agile concepts, methods and techniques. That way, practitioners can complete projects on time regardless of the size of the project and challenges which might occur during the project.

PRINCE2 Agile® Foundation is the right credential for professionals who adopt and implement management controls when working in or around an agile environment. It testifies for a practitioner’s understanding of PRINCE2 governance requirements, knowledge of agile concepts and techniques, and ability to combine PRINCE2 and agile ways of working.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation qualification. That said, knowledge and experience on project management is preferable.

Examination Format

  • Objective testing
  • 50 multiple choice questions
  • 60 minutes duration
  • Passing criteria is 55%, i.e. a minimum of 28 marks of 50
  • Closed book exam

Exam & Certification FAQs

Is this an open book exam?

No. The PRINCE2 Agile Foundation certification examination is closed book.

 

Is PRINCE2 aimed at a particular type of project?

No. PRINCE2 can be applied generally to all types of projects, be they construction, engineering, IT, business, financial or whatever. That said, it was aimed at IT projects in the past, which is why it is still well used in this area. However, it is now suitable for use across a range of industries.

 

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation examination?

All questions are Objective Test Questions, i.e. you will have four options from which you need to select the right option. The remaining three options will be plausible answers, which is why candidates with incomplete knowledge or skill may choose them.

As for question styles, you will come across standard, list, and negative standard questions. Standard are typical multiple choice questions whereas list questions will require you select two answers. Finally, negative standard questions are those which include ‘Not’ in the question.

 

What is the breakdown of the exam?

According to AXELOS, the following are the exam sections you will need to attempt:

    • 5 multiple choice questions based on the first learning outcome
    • 5 multiple choice questions based on the second learning outcome
    • 22 multiple choice questions based on the third learning outcome 
    • 13 multiple choice questions based on the fourth learning outcome
    • 5 multiple choice questions based on the fifth learning outcome

 

How long will it take to receive my exam results?

Candidates may receive examination results immediately after the web-based examination. Final results and the certificate are sent via email within two to three working days.

 

Is the exam offered only in English?

No. You can also opt to attempt the exam in Dutch, German, or Polish.

 

When will my PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner Certification expire?

The certification will expire in three years. To maintain your qualification, you need to either retake the PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner exam before the expiry date or follow the CPD points and digital badge route. For the latter, you need to subscribe to MY PRINCE2.
