Overview

The Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) is an internationally recognized competency-based certification which testifies to your competencies, skills, and proficiency in the field of Business Analysis. This level three certification from the IIBA® also demonstrates your commitment to the profession, which is an important aspect for employers.

Through the CBAP®Boot Camp, certification candidates will receive the guidance and resources they need to pass the certification exam. In addition to covering materials from the BABOK® Guide v3, this course will equip you with additional resources as well as study and exam taking strategies to help you ace the exam the first time.

Learning Objectives

In addition to preparing you for the CBAP certification examination, this intensive course aims to help you achieve the following:

  • Identify critical principles, activities, and tasks in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK ® Guide) 
  • Identify core knowledge areas along with their activities, tasks, inputs and outputs, deliverables, and relationships 
  • Optimize application processes through alignment with the BABOK® Guide 
  • Learn test preparation strategies to help you pass from the very first time

  • Holders of Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®)

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for the CBAP certification exam. Experience in business analysis, however, is preferable. Please refer to the FAQs below for certification prerequisites

Examination Format

  • 120 multiple choice questions
  • 3.5 hours duration
  • Computer-based exam which can be taken online via proctor format or at a local PSI test center
  • No official passing score, but candidates should target 80 – 90%

Exam & Certification FAQs

What are the CBAP certification pre-requisites?

In addition to passing the CBAP exam, you will need to achieve the following:

    • Complete 7,500 hours of work experience in the last 10 years
    • Complete a minimum of 900 hours in four out of the six BABOK® Guide Knowledge Areas, to achieve at least 3,600 of the required 7,500 hours
    • Complete at least 35 hours of Professional Development in the past four years
    • Provide two references
    • Agree to the Code of Conduct
    • Agree to Terms and Conditions

 

How can I track the hours required for the CBAP certification?

You need to consult with the IIBA Certification Handbook to fulfill this requirement.

 

When will I receive my CBAP exam results?

You will get your results immediately after submitting your exam. A confirmation of your result will also be emailed to you within two business days.

 

Do I need to apply for recertification?

Yes, you do. Recertification is a must to maintain your CBAP designation and ensure ongoing professional development.

IIBA will prompt you to complete an online process around the anniversary of your certification. You will need to enter your CDUs, agree to the Terms and Conditions and Code of Ethical Conduct and Professional Standards, and pay the recertification fee.
