COBIT® is the result of over 25 years of development in the field of understanding, designing, and implementing enterprise governance of IT (EGIT). The latest update to the framework introduces several changes, including modified principles, new design factors, updated performance management, and new governance and management objectives.

The COBIT® Design and Implementation certification builds on the knowledge and skills gained in the Foundation level, making it suitable for experienced users who wish to implement the framework in designing governance systems and running governance improvement programs. With the knowledge and experience gained through this course, certified professionals become integral members in supporting enterprise goal achievement.

Prerequisites

In order to be eligible for the COBIT Design and Implementation credential, practitioners need to achieve the COBIT Foundation certificate.

Examination Format

  • Online web-proctored examination
  • 60 multiple choice questions
  • Passing criteria is 60%, 36 marks out of 60
  • 3 hours duration
  • Close book examination

COBIT Design and Implementation is currently the highest credential in the COBIT qualification scheme. That said, practitioners can further expand their knowledge on IT governance with other certifications such as Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)®.

Exam & Certification FAQs

When will I receive my COBIT® Design and Implementation exam results?

As this is an online exam, candidates will receive exam results immediately after completing their exam and exam survey. They can later access their certificate by logging into MyISACA with their credentials.

 

What does the COBIT® Design and Implementation exam cover?

According to ISACA, the exam covers the following seven domains. Included are the weights assigned to each:

  • COBIT Basic Concepts (8%) 
  • Design Factors for a Governance System (15%) 
  • Impact of Design Factors (3%) 
  • The Governance System Design Workflow (32%) 
  • Implementing and Optimizing I&T Governance Overview (7%) 
  • Governance Implementation Lifecycle (32%) 
  • Key Topics Decision Matrix (3%)

 

Will COBIT replace COBIT 5?

ISACA will continue supporting organizations which implemented COBIT 5. Moreover, COBIT 5 resources are available along COBIT for training and implementation.

That said, considering how COBIT is designed to meet the latest challenges of organizations, practitioners will benefit from the latest iteration of the framework.

 

When will my COBIT® Design and Implementation certification expire?

No, it will not.

 

Is the examination available in languages other than English?

No. The COBIT Design and Implementation examination is only available in English. You may, however, confirm any updates here.
